iShares MSCI Hong Kong ETF is managed by BlackRock, Inc. Launched on 12 March 2012, the fund's purpose is to follow and examine the performance of securities that make up its benchmark, the MSCI Hong Kong Index. This index is made up of Hong Kong equities that are open to investment by interested entities outside of Hong Kong.
The aim of iShares MSCI Hong Kong ETF is to invest in the securities that make up its benchmark, the MSCI Hong Kong Index, as well as in securities with similar economic traits as those in the index. This approach facilitates portfolio building from a single-country perspective with the Hong Kong stock market as the target. It also makes possible the exposure of investors to Hong Kong companies in the large- to mid-sized range. As it is focused on a single geographic sector, Hong Kong, the fund is non-diversified. The top sectors in which iShares MSCI Hong Kong ETF operates are insurance, real estate, diversified financials, capital goods, Utilities, banks, consumer services, transportation, food beverage tobacco, telecommunications, retailing, and cash and/or derivatives. The fund's base currency is the US dollar.
