The iShares Core S&P 500 ETF is an exchange traded fund that seeks to track the investment results of the S&P 500 Index, which is a market index composed of large-capitalization U.S. equities. The fund is managed by Blackrock, a major global investment and wealth management company that is headquartered in New York City. The fund was established in 2000.
The ETF essentially provides investors with exposure to some of the largest and most well-established companies in the U.S. market, providing low cost, tax efficient access to 500 of the largest cap stocks within the market The fund has holdings in a variety of sectors, induding financial, communication, information technology, consumer discretionary, consumer staples and healthcare.
The fund will generally invest at least 80% of its assets in the component securities of its index and in investments that have economic characteristics that are substantially identical to the component securities of its index and may invest up to 20% of its assets in certain futures, options and swap contracts, cash, and cash equivalents. |
