Founded in 1966, the Melbourne-based Newcrest Mining Ltd (NCM) is a mining corporation dealing with goid and gold-copper concentrate. It engages in finding, extracting and the processing of metals. Newcrest Mining is a member of the International Council on Mining and Metals and it operates in Australia, Canada, Indonesia, Ivory Coast and Papua New Guinea.
Newcrest Mining's portfolio consists of mostly low-cost mines which also have an expected long life. As well as this, they operate a pipeline greenfields and brownfields exploration projects. Some of their assets include mining projects in Cadia, Telfer and Havierion in Australia, Lihir and Wafi-Golpu in Papua New Guinea, as well as Brucejackand Red Chris in Canada.
Newcrest has long-term contracts with major Japanese refineries, induding Saganoseki. As of March 2022, the company is listed as the largest gold producer on the Australian Securities Exchange and as being one of the largest in the world.
