The iShares TIPS Bond ETF seeks to track the investment results of the Bloomberg Bardays US Treasury Inflation Protected Securities (TIPS) Index. The fund was launched in 2003 and is managed by BlackRock. iShares TIPS Bond ETF was the first ETF to focus on treasury bonds, cornering the market for the first three years after the launch.
The fund indudes US Treasury inflation-protected securities that have at least one year left in maturity. iShares TIPS Bond provides exposure to a diverse portfolio of American domestic government bonds and iooks to protect against intermediate-term inflation.
This index is composed of inflation-protected US Treasury bonds, and the fund invests at least 90% of its assets in the bonds of the underlying index. Up to 10% of the fund's assets are invested in US government bonds that are not induded in the Bloomberg Bardays US Treasury Inflation Protected Securities Index but are expected to help the fund track the underlying index. In addition, the fund may invest up to 5% of its assets in cash, cash equivalents, and US government repurchase agreements. iShares TIPS Bond ETF is listed on the NYSE and can be found under the ticker TIP.
